We made it 7 years with children before someone broke a bone. And poor little Kira was the victim. She has always been easily "fixed" whenever she gets a booboo with a quick kiss and hug. When she couldn't stop crying and wouldn't try to walk or let us touch her leg, we knew something was wrong. While we dashed off to urgent care at 7:00 on a Sunday night, the rest of the Jacklin clan were taking bets on the extent of the injury. They ranged from nothing at all to a hair-line fracture. Nobody guessed that it was a clean break ALL.THE.WAY.THROUGH.

The story behind the break:
All the cousins were playing on the beds at Grandma & Grandpa's house. The big kids were jumping from one bed to the other while Kira was turning the light off and on. An older brother (who shall remain nameless) wanted Kira to stop playing with the light so he gave her a little shove which caused her to loose her footing. Her leg slipped between the wall and the bed and the angle at which she tried to free her leg is what caused it to break.
She was in so much pain that I had to sleep on the floor with her. Just when she would relax enough to get some rest, she'd roll over or bump her leg and wake up screaming. It was horrible. Especially since no amount of Tylenol or Ibuprofen could take the edge off her pain. We had to wait 3 days before we could see the orthopedist.
Fun times...said no parent EVER!
