I SURVIVED...

Ok, this post and the last are out of order, but only by a couple of days. I did complete my second half-marathon two days before I turned 30. (Yes, that was 13.1 miles) My wonderful little sister, Erin convinced me last year to train for my very first half-marathon which I ran and survived Memorial Day 2007 in 2 hours 29 minutes & 58 seconds. I vowed to NEVER run another half-marathon as long as I lived. I was totally and completely beat, AND my knee hurt.
I did continue to run to stay in shape so it didn't take my good friend Rebecca long to convince me to run in the Fontana Days Half-marathon. All she had to say was that it was the "Fastest Half-marathon course" in the world. When I looked at the website it appeared to be completely downhill. FALSE!!! Only the first half is downhill...the last half was completely FLAT. Needless to say, halfway through the flat part (around mile 10) I vowed to NEVER run another half-marathon. I may stick to it this time and only get suckered in to sprint triathalons by individuals who shall remain nameless (K & M).

Miraculously, I finished and actually improved my time by 22 minutes. I dragged myself across the finish line in 2 hours 8 minutes (averaged to a 9:46 minute mile). I'm surprised I made it. I had leg muscles hurting that I didn't even know you used when running. Plus, that same knee from last year started hurting again. I seriously wanted someone to shoot me. But seeing my fan club as I neared the finish line curbed that depressing thought. Yay for finish lines!!!

The finishers **** My #1 fan

My adoring public

More fanfare
(Who couldn't help but pull from the reserve tank to get to these guys?)
